Helping young people
design a future
that fits them
Education and career decisions shape a life — but young people are often asked to make them before they fully understand themselves.
Incharge Futures helps teenagers and young adults develop the self-knowledge, curiosity and practical decision-making skills they need to explore what comes next.
SELF-KNOWLEDGE FOR EDUCATION · WORK · LIFE

The question isn’t only
“What job should I do?”
Choosing subjects, university courses, apprenticeships or a first career can feel like choosing a whole life.
But a meaningful future rarely begins with a job title.
It begins with understanding — who I am, what matters to me, how I work best, what kind of life I want to build and which possibilities are worth exploring, amongst other things.
“A good future does not have to make sense to everyone else. It has to become possible for the person living it.”

A PLACE TO START
Future Compass
Find your direction.
Future Compass is a focused one-to-one session for teenagers and young adults who are unsure what comes next, weighing up different options or simply want greater clarity about the direction that might suit them.
Rather than starting with a list of careers, we begin with the young person.
Together we explore their strengths, interests, values and natural ways of working, then look at the education, work and life possibilities that could genuinely fit.
They leave with a clearer sense of themselves, the directions worth exploring and practical next steps — without needing to have their whole future figured out.

Different
possibilities.
Different
paths.
Future by Design is a guided programme for teenagers and young adults who are beginning to make important decisions about education, work and adult life.
Rather than beginning with a list of occupations, we begin with the young person.
Together we explore how they think and make decisions, what matters to them, the environments in which they function best, the lives and fields of work that spark genuine curiosity and what their next practical experiments could be.
The aim is not to predict one perfect future. It is to help a young person become more capable of designing their own.
A perspective shaped across education
My relationship with education spans more than three decades — from tutoring as a teenager and beyond to working across nurseries, schools, colleges and universities, supporting apprenticeships, serving as a school governor and raising two daughters through their own educational journeys.
Seeing education from so many different perspectives and across borders, has shaped a question that increasingly sits at the centre of my work:
How do we help young people understand themselves well enough to make choices that genuinely fit?
Through these experiences, one truth has become increasingly clear to me: young people thrive when they understand themselves, can see a wider range of possibilities and feel able to make choices that genuinely fit who they are.
This is at the heart of my work today — helping young people move from self-understanding to possibility, from possibility to choice, and from choice to action, so they can begin creating
a life they cannot wait to wake up to.
WHY THIS WORK MATTERS TO ME
I have spent much of my professional life at the meeting point between people, education and possibility.
My background spans business and banking, education, employability, psychology research, coaching and wellbeing. I have worked across the educational journey — from early-years settings and schools to colleges, universities and career transitions — as well as raising two daughters through the realities of subject choices, exams and decisions about life after school.
What interests me most is not simply helping a young person choose the “right” course or career. It is helping them understand themselves well enough to make choices they can inhabit.
My research into authenticity has reinforced something I have seen repeatedly in practice: a choice can look perfectly sensible from the outside and still be difficult to live from the inside.
Future by Design grew from that question:
“How do we help young people build futures that are not only imaginable, but genuinely enactable?”
PSYCHOLOGY · COACHING · EDUCATION · EMPLOYABILITY · BUSINESS · WELLBEING
There is more than one way
to build a meaningful life.
Future by Design helps young people discover which possibilities are truly theirs.
