INCHARGE FUTURES
FUTURE BY DESIGN
You don't have to have your future figured out.
Understand yourself. Explore what's possible. Design what comes next.
A personalised three-session programme for young people aged 14–25, designed to help them develop greater self-knowledge, explore education and career possibilities, and begin making choices that feel both meaningful and realistic.
Greater self-knowledge. A future you can build.
YOUR FUTURE ISN'T ONE DECISION
“What do you want to do?” It is a question young people are asked remarkably early. Choose your subjects. Choose your course. Choose a university. Choose a career. Decide what you want your life to look like. But meaningful choices are difficult to make when you are still discovering who you are.
Future by Design starts somewhere different. Rather than beginning with What should you do?, we begin with:
Who are you?
What matters to you?
How do you work best?
What environments help you thrive?
What possibilities are worth exploring?
What could you do next to find out more?
Because the aim isn't to predict your future.
It is to help you become better equipped to create it.
Research. Conversations. Open days. Courses. Work experience. Projects. People doing interesting work. New industries. Different ways of living and working.

WHAT IS FUTURE BY DESIGN?
Future by Design is a personalised three-session pathway that helps young people move from self-understanding to possibility, from possibility to choice, and from choice to action. Across three 75-minute one-to-one sessions, we explore the person behind the decisions — their strengths, interests, values, motivations, ways of working, aspirations and the conditions in which they are most likely to flourish.
From there, we widen the lens. Instead of looking for one perfect career or asking a young person to commit prematurely to a particular version of their future, we identify possible directions, begin exploring them in the real world and create practical next steps.
The question becomes less: “What am I going to be?” and more:
“What am I discovering about myself — and what would be useful to explore next?”

THE FUTURE BY DESIGN JOURNEY
UNDERSTAND
Who am I?
We build a richer picture of who they are — strengths, interests, values, motivations, natural ways of working, learning preferences, energy, decision-making and the environments in which they tend to feel most engaged.
We also look at the difference between what they genuinely want and what they may feel they should want because of expectations around them.
The purpose isn't to define them. It is to give them more language for understanding themselves.
Between sessions, they begin noticing their own patterns in everyday life: what absorbs them, what drains them, what creates curiosity and what feels more like obligation or approval-seeking.
WHERE MIGHT I THRIVE?
Expand + Explore
Once we understand the person more clearly, we can begin widening the possibilities around them. We explore potential subjects, courses, industries, roles, working environments and ways of building a life.
This isn't simply matching someone's personality to a list of jobs. We look for career hypotheses — possibilities worth becoming curious about.
Then we ask how those possibilities could be tested through investigating a university course, speaking to someone doing a particular job, attending an open day, watching a lecture, trying a project, volunteering, arranging work experience or exploring an unfamiliar field. The aim is not immediate certainty. It is better information.
HOW DO I MAKE THIS REAL?
Decide + Act
In the final session, we bring self-understanding and exploration together.
What has become clearer?
What possibilities still have energy?
What has become less interesting?
What practical requirements need to be considered?
What barriers or constraints are real?
And what could be tested before a bigger decision needs to be made?
Together we begin turning possibility into a practical direction — with clear next steps that the young person can actually take. Not a life plan set in stone but a direction they have reasons to explore.
The young person remains the author
of what happens next.
A DEEPLY PERSONALISED APPROACH
No two young people experience Future by Design in exactly the same way. Alongside coaching and structured career exploration, I can draw on personal astrology and Human Design insights as additional reflective tools.
Used thoughtfully, these can help us explore questions such as: How do I tend to make decisions? What motivates me? What kind of pace and working rhythm suits me? Where might I be particularly influenced by other people's expectations? What environments support me? How do I learn, communicate and process information? What strengths or recurring themes might be worth developing further?
These tools are not used to predict a young person's future, diagnose them or tell them what career they are “meant” to pursue. They offer hypotheses to explore.
WHAT THEY LEAVE WITH
A deeper understanding of themselves and a clearer sense of what to explore next. By the end of the programme they will have:
☑️ Stronger self-knowledge and language for what matters to them.
☑️ Recognition of the conditions in which they function well.
☑️ Several credible directions to explore.
☑️ Questions to investigate and real-world next steps.
☑️ A Personal Future Blueprint bringing everything together.
A MAP FOR EXPLORATION — NOT A PRESCRIPTION
WHO IS FUTURE BY DESIGN FOR?
14 - 17
Choosing subjects and exploring possibilities.
18 - 21
Considering university, apprenticeships or alternative routes.
22 - 25
Early career choices, redirection and what kind of life they want to build.
At this age, parents may know them best — but they are often the last people they want to listen to. Sometimes an independent voice is what helps good advice finally land.
* For under-18s, appropriate parental involvement and consent are built into the process while preserving space for an honest and independent conversation with the young person.
FOR PARENTS
Supporting them without choosing for them
You may see abilities they don’t yet recognise and naturally want them to make choices that create security and possibility. But adolescence and early adulthood are also the years in which young people need to begin developing something they will use for the rest of their lives: the ability to know themselves and make increasingly independent decisions.
Future by Design is centred on the young person, with parental support and involvement, especially for under 18s, but the purpose of the programme is not to produce the answer that a parent — or I — thinks they should choose.
It is to strengthen the young person's capacity to explore, discern and participate meaningfully in decisions about their own life.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO KNOW THE WHOLE FUTURE
Understand yourself. Explore what's possible. Design what comes next.
You only need enough self-knowledge to recognise what may be worth exploring. Enough curiosity to investigate it. Enough discernment to notice what fits. And enough confidence to take the next step. Then another.
That is how a future begins to take shape.
